Business Strategy is for me, an exciting area that is often misunderstood. The idea is that this is the “blueprint for success” and the key to victory in business....and to an extent this is correct, to an extent! In my opinion the overall strategy sets the battlefield upon which business “war” will be waged. [I should point out that I am no fan of comparing real war to the vagaries of business life, I have the greatest respect for those folks that put their lives on the line in service of their country, nevertheless, there are parallels to be drawn between the military world and the business world, and these have been drawn for many years!]
The key points in defining your business strategy are to decide what is it that you intend to do, and why that would be important to your chosen business venture. As simple as this sounds, this requires a wide knowledge of the the many aspects that affect a business venture, whether it is the technology behind your solution, or the dynamics of your particular competitive situation, or one of another manifold aspect of crafting success in business.
It is my hope that I can stimulate enough interest in this area to create an instructive dialog in the problem domain, as well as to connect interested parties in discussion.
